Titan Double IPA by Triggerfish Brewing

Founded in 2010 in Somerset West, Triggerfish Brewing is one of the pioneers of South African craft beer and the second-oldest craft brewery in the greater Cape Town area.

Brewing in small, meticulous batches, they focus on mastering complex classic styles while boldly exploring innovative hybrids. Known for powerful, high-gravity beers like Barley Wine, Belgian Strong Ale and Imperial Stout, Triggerfish has built a reputation for depth, balance and intensity.

Nestled in the heart of wine country, they launched a pioneering Sour Beer Programme in 2013, using aged wine barrels to create distinctive, character-driven brews. With over 60 beers across 34 recognised styles — including unique fynbos-infused creations — Triggerfish continues to showcase the very best of South African flavour and craft.

Titan is a bold double -hop Imperial IPA created to showcase the unique character of Southern Passion — a locally bred South African hop variety known for its vibrant passion fruit aroma and firm bitterness. Originally developed as US4/78 and hybridised in the Outeniqua Mountains, this hop was historically used only for bittering until Titan helped reveal its full flavour potential.

Pouring a bright golden colour, Titan balances intense hop expression with a solid malt backbone. Crystal malts add a touch of sweetness that supports the beer’s powerful bitterness, while the elevated alcohol gives it depth and warmth. Big, expressive and proudly South African, Titan is both a robust winter warmer and a refreshing hop bomb when enjoyed cold.
