In 2019, at their first home on Roeland Street, Pienaar & Sons filled a handful of heavy char barrels — long before Tiny Batch became one of their most loved releases. One of those early barrels tasted different from the start: deeper, slower, more settled. They set it aside.
That barrel followed them through two moves, tight spaces, tighter budgets, and the reality of being a small distillery where time is the rarest resource. Aging whisky this long is almost impossible at their scale. Most can’t do it. They barely could. But this barrel was special enough to hold onto.
Because it survived, what’s inside is something you rarely see: a six-year-old whisky that lived through change, challenge and patience.
Tiny Batch Six is the oldest whisky Pienaar & Sons has ever released — a once-off moment in their story, captured in a bottle for the few who get to claim one before it’s gone.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Rich and inviting, with honeyed malt, soft vanilla, toffee, and subtle dried fruit. Hints of oak spice and gentle caramel linger in the background.
Palate: Smooth and layered, offering creamy vanilla, toasted oak, and warm baking spices, balanced by a subtle sweet fruitiness and a touch of nutty malt.
Finish: Long and gentle, with soft oak warmth and a lingering sweet-spice note that invites slow, contemplative sipping.
Style: Balanced, approachable, and rich — a whisky that shows patience and care, perfect neat, on ice, or in a simple whisky-forward cocktail.
