The Macallan Rare Cask Original Release 2014–2018 (1824 Masters Series)

The first generation of Macallan Rare Cask, introduced in 2014 as part of the 1824 Masters Series and made until 2018, before Rare Cask became the numbered batch releases of today.

Whisky maker Bob Dalgarno drew on 16 different cask styles, a record for Macallan at the time, with Spanish and American oak and a high share of first-fill sherry-seasoned casks. Macallan noted the casks chosen were fewer than 1% of those maturing at the distillery. Classic sherried Macallan: deep mahogany, with vanilla, raisin, dried fruit and rich spice. A sought-after bottle for collectors.
