Brewed in the medieval city of Kilkenny, Sullivan's Maltings Irish Ale is the flagship beer of the revived Sullivan's Brewing Company, whose brewing roots date back to 1702. A classic Irish Red Ale, it is traditionally brewed by hand in small batches using locally sourced Irish ingredients, including four carefully selected malts, three hop varieties and Sullivan's unique cask ale yeast. The brewery also employs a longer fermentation and maturation process than many commercial breweries, resulting in exceptional smoothness and depth of flavour.

Beautifully balanced and approachable, Maltings Irish Ale showcases the rich malt character that has made Irish red ales famous, offering gentle caramel sweetness, biscuity notes and a clean, refreshing finish.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Brilliant ruby red with exceptional clarity and a creamy off-white head.

Nose: Inviting aromas of toasted biscuit malt, light caramel and subtle dried fruit are complemented by delicate earthy hop notes and a hint of roasted grain.

Palate: Smooth, medium-bodied and wonderfully balanced. Rich biscuit malt and gentle caramel sweetness lead the way, followed by notes of toasted bread, light molasses and a restrained hop bitterness that keeps the beer crisp and highly drinkable.

Finish: Clean, dry and satisfying with lingering biscuit malt, gentle caramel and a touch of earthy hop bitterness.
