From the high-altitude vineyards (700 m) of Elandskloof in South Africa’s Cape South Coast, Saurwein Nom Pinot Noir 2024 is crafted by Jessica Saurwein—whose winemaking lineage stretches back to the Habsburg era. This expressive Pinot, blending clones 115, 667, and 777 on shale-rich and granitic soils, is a flagship of her minimal-intervention philosophy—powerful yet refined. Only 18 barrels were produced, making this vintage exceptionally rare and collectible.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Complex and aromatic—with bright red and dark berries, rosehip, lifted cocoa, and distinctive dried orange rind that speaks of the vineyard’s terroir.

Palate: Deep, stylish, and structured. The palate delivers richness and savoury freshness in equal measure. Juice drips with intensity, supported by fine-grained tannins and crisp, balancing acidity. This is power without weight.

Ageing & Drink Window

Denser and more structured than earlier releases, the 2024 Nom is built to age. Estimated drinking window: 2025 to 2040.

Serving Suggestion

Serve in tulip-shaped glasses at 14–16 °C to fully appreciate its perfumed aromatics and savoury backbone. This Pinot is a sublime partner for roasted duck breast, wild mushroom risotto, or aged Gouda.
