Redbreast Lustau Edition is a distinguished part of Redbreast’s Iberian Series, resulting from a unique collaboration between Ireland’s Midleton Distillery and Spain’s renowned sherry house Lustau of Jerez. The whiskey is initially matured for 9–12 years in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, then finished for an additional year in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts specially seasoned by Lustau.
With the house’s hallmark single pot still style, this edition brings a deeper sherry-influenced character while retaining the elegant orchard fruit and pot still spice that defines Redbreast.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Rich golden amber with darker amber highlights—indicating the additional cask finishing and sherry butt influence.
Nose: A rich infusion of dark fruits — prunes, dates, figs — alongside liquorice, marzipan, toasted oak and inviting aromatic spices.
Beneath the richness you’ll sense the familiar Redbreast pot still core: orchard fruit, malt sweetness and subtle malt-barley complexity.
Palate: Silky smooth texture typical of Redbreast. The sherry influence brings assertive spices and richness: raisins, sultana, dark cherry, and warm toffee. At the same time fresh Spanish oak from the butt finishing contributes crispness, mild tannin and oak spice.
Finish: Long and enduring. Sweetness and assorted spices linger while the Oloroso sherry and Spanish oak characteristics make the final statement: dried fruits, toasted oak spice, a touch of woody dryness and balanced warmth.

Collector’s Note

For collectors and enthusiasts of premium Irish whiskey, it represents an excellent value in the ultra-premium category: artistry, heritage, and craft in one bottle. Because the outturn is not massive and the series is well regarded, it also holds strong appeal from a collection/investment perspective.
