Pol Roger Pure Extra Brut—originally known as Pure Brut Nature—is a zero-dosage, no-added-sugar expression crafted to showcase the purest expression of the house style. Launched in 2008 and later renamed “Pure Extra Brut,” it blends equal proportions of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier to reflect balance and clarity. It undergoes at least four years on the lees, allowing texture and complexity to develop prior to disgorgement.
This cuvée represents Pol Roger’s ambition to produce a Champagne in its most natural state—refined, firm, and articulate.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Pale golden straw, bright and crystalline, with a fine and persistent mousse.
Nose: Refined and complex: clove flowers and rose petals mingle with fresh citrus, orchard stone fruit, breadcrumbs, and subtle yeast/autolytic notes.
Palate: The first impression is firm and precise—“straight and fine as an arrow,” as Pol Roger describes it. Layers of grapefruit, orange rind, apple and pear interplay over a mineral thread. Texture is taut but lithe, with saline clarity.
Finish: Clean and extended, with echoes of honey, cloves, and a discreet salinity that underscores the Champagne’s origin and structure.
