Olmeca Altos Reposado is crafted from 100% Blue Weber agave grown in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico — specifically the Los Altos region. The agave piñas are slow-cooked in traditional brick ovens, then distilled and aged in ex-bourbon (American white oak) barrels for 6-8 months before bottling. It is widely acclaimed for combining premium production methods with excellent value and versatility — at home neat or in high-end cocktails.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Pale golden amber — light yet inviting thanks to the short ageing in oak.
Nose: Sweet citrus (orange and grapefruit) greets the nose, layered with cooked agave, vanilla pods, and a hint of fresh wood or oak.
Palate: Lush and smooth. Flavours of roasted agave, caramel, light oak spice, vanilla, and citrus zest combine. Some pepper or spice appears toward the mid-palate.
Finish: Medium length with a well-balanced aftertaste. Cinnamon or white pepper, subtle tannin from the barrels, and a citrus-fresh tail carry through.
