Laphroaig 10 Year Old

Matured in charred oak barrels for a sweet vanilla nuttiness, and only just filtered to remove char, so it's bottled with very little intervention. It may turn a little cloudy when cold or with water: the natural sign of an uncompromising peated whisky.

Huge smoke, seaweed, medicinal notes and a hint of sweetness. Surprisingly sweet on the palate, with salt and layers of peat, and a lingering finish. The purist's choice.
