Hazendal Bottelary Hills Syrah 2025 is a vibrant and site-driven expression of Syrah from the renowned Bottelary Hills in Stellenbosch. Crafted by cellarmaster Kiara Scott Farmer, this wine showcases the unique granite-rich soils and cooling maritime influences that define the region, producing a Syrah of remarkable freshness, elegance, and precision.

The grapes were hand-harvested over seven selective passes, with 22% whole-bunch fermentation using indigenous yeasts to enhance aromatic complexity and structure. Following fermentation, the wine matured for nine months in a combination of seasoned 500-litre French oak barrels (60%) and concrete tanks (40%), preserving purity of fruit while adding subtle texture and depth.

The result is a beautifully balanced Syrah bursting with bright red and dark berry fruit, floral aromatics, white pepper spice, and a distinctive mineral freshness. Energetic, refined, and expressive, this inaugural Bottelary Hills Syrah has already established itself as one of South Africa's standout releases.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Youthful aromas of mulberries, blueberries, jasmine, white pepper, and subtle herbal notes.

Palate: Juicy pomegranate, red berries, black plum, and cracked pepper are supported by silky yet structured tannins, vibrant acidity, and a distinctive blood orange freshness.

Finish: Long, fresh, and lightly spicy with lingering red fruit, fine mineral tension, and elegant tannic grip.
