Originally developed in the 1950s at the Morland Brewery, this Amber-hued ale boasts a rich heritage and continues to be brewed ‘longer to a unique recipe’. Hailed by beer luminary Michael Jackson as “one of the great characters of the beer world,” it remains celebrated for its malty complexity and balanced hop profile.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: A warm, mahogany copper with a persistent off-white head that’s inviting and rich.

Aroma: Enticing layers of fruit cake sweetness—think ripe dark fruit, toffee, and biscuity malt—combined with herbal hop notes and subtle floral spice.

Palate: Full-bodied and satisfying, with a harmonious interplay of malt sweetness and raisined fruit. Gentle bitterness emerges, supported by underlying spice and oak-like nuance.

Finish: Clean and lingering, the finish balances a dry bitterness with lingering malt warmth and a note of mature complexity.
