Tasting Notes

Colour: Deep amber-gold with mahogany nuances — reflecting the intensity of nearly half a century’s maturation.

Nose: An opulent bouquet opens with rich dried fruits — figs, raisins, candied orange peel — followed by elegant spice (cinnamon, clove), subtle leather and old polished oak. Time has allowed delicate cocoa and tobacco leaf to develop, layered above the hallmark Glenfarclas sherried malt core.

Palate: Full-bodied and luxuriously rich. The palate presents a tapestry of dark treacle, over-ripe orchard fruit, burnt toffee, and malted barley sweetness, under-pinned by refined oak spice, gentle tannin, and long-managed wood influence. The 44 years bring an exceptional depth and complexity.

Finish: Very long and lingering: the after-taste holds on with dried cherry, old mahogany, toasted nut, and a trace of sea salt minerality that hints at the Speyside location. The maturity means no harsh edges — just refined complexity.
