The Edradour 12 Year Old 2013 – Burgundy Wine Cask Matured is a rich and elegant Highland single malt that showcases the remarkable synergy between Edradour's robust, full-bodied spirit and the vibrant influence of first-fill Burgundy wine hogsheads. Distilled in August 2013 and bottled in April 2026, this limited small-batch release spent its entire maturation in ex-Burgundy casks previously used to age Pinot Noir, imparting layers of dark berry fruit, gentle spice and velvety complexity.
Bottled at 46% ABV, with natural colour and no chill filtration, this expression preserves the distillery's signature oily texture while allowing the rich wine cask influence to shine. It is an outstanding example of Edradour's acclaimed wine cask series and a must-try for lovers of fruit-forward Highland whisky.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep ruby-amber with rich mahogany highlights.
Nose: Inviting aromas of dried cherries, raspberry compote and blackberry are layered with vanilla cream, dark chocolate and polished oak. Gentle notes of clove, cinnamon and earthy spice add further depth.
Palate: Rich, silky and full-bodied. Flavours of blackberry jam, ripe red berries and malt loaf are complemented by cocoa, vanilla and soft baking spices. The Burgundy casks contribute elegant Pinot Noir character, balanced beautifully by Edradour's naturally creamy, weighty spirit.
Finish: Long, warming and satisfying with lingering dark berry fruit, gentle oak tannins, baking spice and a touch of dark chocolate.
