The Catena Malbec High Mountain Vines 2024 is one of Argentina's most iconic wines, crafted by the renowned Catena Zapata family from a blend of premium high-altitude vineyards across Mendoza. Sourced from estate vineyards planted between approximately 920 and 1,450 metres above sea level, this wine captures the freshness, concentration and elegance that have made Mendoza the spiritual home of world-class Malbec.

Produced under the guidance of Dr. Laura Catena and acclaimed winemaker Alejandro Vigil, the High Mountain Vines Malbec is matured for 12–14 months in French oak barrels (a combination of first-, second- and third-use oak), adding subtle complexity while allowing the purity of the fruit to remain at the forefront. The result is a beautifully balanced Malbec that combines rich dark fruit with vibrant acidity, silky tannins and remarkable finesse.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Deep violet with vibrant purple reflections.

Nose: Expressive aromas of blackberry, blueberry and ripe plum are complemented by delicate notes of violet, lavender and hints of vanilla, mocha and sweet spice.

Palate: Rich, smooth and beautifully structured. Concentrated flavours of blackberries, blueberries and dark cherries are layered with touches of cocoa, leather, cinnamon and subtle oak. Fine-grained tannins and bright natural acidity provide freshness and elegance, while a flinty mineral note adds impressive length and complexity.

Finish: Long, polished and satisfying with lingering dark fruit, cocoa, spice and a refined mineral freshness.
