Black Oil Barrel Aged Imperial Stout by Soul Barrel

Black Oil is Soul Barrel's annual small batch, barrel-aged imperial stout.  This year’s vintage is made of multiple vintages, aged in a variety of bourbon, whiskey and rum barrels with a solera process.

Black Oil is a rich, deep and complex stout.  It shows big top notes of coffee and roast, along with a rich, malty-sweet chocolate flavor profile, and a thick oaky body, all balanced by a oily, warming finish.

Imperial stouts are among the strongest, most extreme style of beer.  They are known as “Russian” Imperial Stouts, as they trace their origins to strong stouts brewed in London for export to the Russian imperial court of Catherine the Great in the 1800s.
