Part of Amrut’s innovative Single Malts of India series—which sources and showcases single malt whiskies produced across India by various distillers—Marudham is a special release inspired by agricultural land (a “Marudham” meaning “fertile land” in Tamil). This expression highlights the terroir of India’s barley, climate and maturation: rich, ripe, and fruity in character, and bottled at 46% ABV.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Bright golden straw.
Nose: Tropical fruit waves immediately: ripe banana, plantain, mango and pineapple. Creamy vanilla pods, smooth chocolate and a whisper of warm oak.
Palate: Rich and textured. Fruit-pulp sweetness (pineapple, mango) leads the way, joined by dark chocolate and caramelised nuts. A touch of woody spice and warm almond rounds it out.
Finish: Long and lingering, with residual tropical fruit, subtle nutty malt, a hint of pepper and light oak dryness that keeps it fresh.
