This striking release forms part of Signatory Vintage’s acclaimed 100 Proof series and showcases a rarer side of Ben Nevis: heavily peated spirit. Distilled in 2019 and bottled in 2026 after seven years in second-fill Oloroso sherry butts, it combines muscular Highland peat with rich sherry influence and Ben Nevis’ famously weighty, slightly coastal character.

Unlike the standard waxy, fruit-driven Ben Nevis profile, this edition leans into smoke, dark fruit and earthy depth. The use of second-fill casks is important: the sherry adds complexity without overwhelming the distillery character, allowing the peat and spirit to remain front and centre. Bottled at natural cask strength (57.1% ABV), without chill filtration or added colour, this is a raw, powerful and highly characterful whisky aimed squarely at enthusiasts.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Deep gold with rich amber tones.

Nose: Bonfire smoke, charred oak and smoked meat rise immediately, followed by raisins, dried cherry and dark spice. Hints of leather, toasted nuts and a faint maritime note develop with time.

Palate: Powerful and smoky. Waves of peat smoke and rich malt are joined by raisin sweetness, dark sugar, cocoa and warming spice. The Oloroso casks bring subtle dried fruit richness while the spirit retains a robust, slightly salty Highland edge.

Finish: Long, smoky and warming with lingering ash, sherry spice, drying oak and a touch of dried cherry.
